Free Flower Tutorial

I’m trying to learn how to make a Peace rose….note to self, red + yellow = orange! The smallest flower below is due to my not allowing the yellow to dry completely before I touched the edges with the pink – it’s what happens when you finish up crafting after having friends over for games, and after they’ve all gone home, and you’ve cleaned up, you decide; Let’s do that last flower real quick! (At 10:45pm!)

I’ve been on a kick using up scraps. I have so many!! This paper is using Graphic 45’s “Grow with Love” collection. It has beautiful artwork (as usual!) and is perfect for Springtime, Mothers Day and/or Easter. If we are lucky, perhaps Graphic 45 will re-release it with a die in a Collectors pack, in the near future!!

You can see here I am able to shape and gain dimension with these dies, just the way I like it! You might also note some of the leaves are using a patterned paper – this is (leftover scraps) from the patterns and solids pack from “Cottage Life” I believe. I ran out of both of these paper packs much too quickly!

So I’ve tried to upload the video tutorial – I guess it’s too long, so instead I’ll have to refer you to my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/EQ57F1JbV8w?si=xVsvTVczT-Kr1I7l

Enjoy!!

More Trifold Cards – Using Graphic 45 Papers

I have enjoyed making these trifold cards so much, I had to make more!! I have one other, but forgot to take a photo of it! so I suppose I’ll have to do another one.

The first here is made from the “Let it Bee” paper Keepsake collection. It was re-released in the Spring. Flowers are hand crafted using old heartfelt Creations dies.

This card has a little tag on the back panel.

The next 3 phots are from the G45 collection “Blossom”. This was another keepsake collection, and included the lattice die, and dragonfly die you see here. The bumblebee came from the Let it Bee keepsake collection. The butterfly is an old Spellbinders die, I use it A LOT – and I will be using the dragonfly, bumblebee and lattice dies a lot now too!!

The middle panel has a little foldout, which can have a private message written, and still allow the card to be displayed.

This is my most favorite collection currently. It is called “Flights of Fancy” and has the most amazing hummingbirds and butterflies!

This one also has a little foldout for writing a message.

I have loved making these trifold cards. I can see making many more in the future! I hope you enjoy playing with paper as much as I do!

IF you want to be able to fit this in an envelopelope to mail, simply cut off the top part where the ribbons and grommets are, and don’t use dimensional embellishments. (I don’t see that happening in my future, but perhaps for yours?)

Trifold Cards from Heartfelt Creations Scraps

I saw a post by a lady on Facebook, using Heartfelt Creations paper and dies to make a tie-fold card (Kirsten Muehlen). It was adorable!! Anyway it got me going on a roll, and I have here, 5 little tri-fold cards made from 5 different Heartfelt Creations paper collections. They each measure about 4×6 when closed. The middle panel cover on all these hides a sketch pad – the nice kind meant for water coloring!

Mini Tunnel Album with Graphic45 Fairy Dreams/Wishes

I saw a video of someone making a tunnel album which was ATC size (about 2×3”) and thought this paper would be fantastic for it! So many of the images are tiny anyway, since they are fairies, after all.

The hardest part of this was getting all the pages to line up – even with a tutorial, I had trouble, but lucky for me, I am also stubborn!

I didn’t quite know what to do with it once I was finished – this paper has been discontinued, and I was working with scraps as it was – the image I was trying to emulate had the mini album on top of a much larger (but still mini-sized) photo album, and I didn’t have nearly enough paper to pull that off, so decided to create a card, and instead of the emphasis being on my dimensional flowers, the emphasis is on the mini tunnel album.

The butterfly is from my stash, picked it up at a hobby shop quite a while back, and flowers are from Heartfelt Creations – theoretically small petunias, but I just turned them into blossoms.

Personally I think it’s adorable, but I know I’m biased! Thanks for stopping by and looking!!

“Fancy” Greeting Card

This was actually my first card using Graphic 45’s “Flights of Fancy” paper collection.

I’ve used a die or two from Heartfelt creations, cutting the doily from a holographic sort of silver paper, and the flowers are also HFC, using the Classic rose. Too much fun being had here at my house, playing with all this gorgeousness!! (Is that a word?)

Gift Card (with Chocolate!)

I have NO idea why this wasn’t posted before today! I enjoy this particular paper collection from Graphic 45 almost more than I enjoyed the “Floral Shoppe” papers! This one is called “Flights of Fancy”, and has delightful hummingbirds, whimsical butterflies, and gorgeous florals – the colors are vibrant and frankly, it’s just a beauty to behold. It’s almost difficult to cut into the papers, and one makes certain to measure twice and cut once, so as to not waste any of the preciousness!!

I still use my stamps & dies from Heartfelt Creations, even though they are completely digital now, as I find they are excellent quality, and I have quite a large variety of different flowers to choose from – the range goes from tiny little lilac and cherry blossoms to (what I consider) enormous Dahlia and Wild Roses.

For this particular card, I used the classic rose, and “Oakberry” blossoms, as well as a tiny punch for the dark dark pink blossom. The butterflies are from the Ephemera pack that goes along with the collection.

I had some fun with the ribbons as well, as you can see, combining 3 different textures, widths and patterns.

Inside is a little mini cards, some pretty postcards, and a couple of chocolate bars.

I had so much fun creating this for someone special, I hope you’ve enjoyed my newest make!!

Cottage Life & Friendship

I was rummaging around upstairs and found this lovely paper from last year. Graphic 45’s “Cottage Life” collection – I have quite a lot of it, not sure how it got hidden away!

I also happened upon this pink floribunda rose that I thought would set it off beautifully. I used the Heartfelt Creations large Wild Rose die, and added a bit of glitter to the edges of the petals, and leaves. Too fun! ( Glitter is my middle name, lol!) I tucked a couple of spare hydrangeas around it, and added a gussied up bow too.

I found a little oval die cut in my stash that I used behind the statement in front; it’s amazing, really, how much stuff I used from my stash in this little card! Even inside – I had found 3 honey sticks given to me by a friend, so I added a little extra glue on the inside pocket to keep it from sliding (making a very narrow pocket especially for the honey stick) and put a little flag on top of one to catch the eye.

And voila! A pretty card in just a couple of hours!

You are more Amazing than a dress with pockets!

Grow With Love Gatefold card with Tags

I truly love this paper!! I have so much fun working with Graphic 45 papers, they feel good on my hands, cut cleanly, are double sided, and most importantly, have beautiful artwork!

I think I started cutting into this paper pack the day it arrived on my doorstep!

I did something a little different this time, I added a little disc of paper to the edge of the center ephemera piece on the belly band, so that I could glue my handmade flowers to the belly band, but also allow for the beautiful artwork to be seen. I may have it a little bit low on the card in this photo, come to think of it.

When you slide off the belly band and open the card up, you will find a pocket with a tag & mini card on the tag, as well as some embellishments on each wing of the open gate fold.

At the very back of the center panel, is a large pocket for a long tag, to better showcase the paper, and allow for a secret message from me to the sender!

Below, you can watch a mini “walkthrough” of the card.

Graphic 45 Dimensional Fold Greeting Card

Using G45’s “Grow With Love” paper, I’ve created a very simple, but eye catching card, that stands on it’s own! This is kind of like a Z-fold card, in that it folds flat, but we have actually created a box at the bottom that allows it to stand up, and fold flat for mailing.

I absolutely love this paper, and I think I am going to have to order another pack!! The colors are so vibrant and cheerful, they just sing to me. I’ve used a black background for my card base, and one of the cut-apart cards for the front sentiment. The flower is crafted from G45’s flower dies (which come with the largest tag – 3.75″ x 8.5″) with a little glossy accents to help it shine.

Here is the view when lain flat.

Here is the view from the side.

A Gatefold Card with Pockets

I absolutely loved working with Mintay’s “Garden Peony” paper collection! These colors and the “shabby chic” feel, really appeal to me. It may not appear to be all that fancy at first glance, but there are a few hidden details once you get inside!

From the onset, you see one of the cut-aparts as the focal image, with some fabric lace, and flat back pearls. The belly band also includes some flat back pearls, as well as a peony and two peony buds crafted from Heartfelt Creations dies, and some little white blossom from a generic flower punch. I arranged the flowers on a round disc of paper, and then glued that disc on to the belly band itself.

Inside you see I have a couple of pockets, one for a large tag about 8”x 4”, and then below with two smaller tags which are about 3”x 4”. I also used some of the die cut ephemera to add interest to the center back, since I needed to keep the dimensional element for the outside of the card. If you wanted to, you could make either pocket a bit more dimensional, so you could include a gift, like a chocolate bar or something.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this sweet card, and as always thanks for stopping by!!
